Mavraphas is a vast temperate forest situated between the Itinyas hills in the south and the Vadren hills to the north. It borders the Nelaryotar forest, resulting in a significant presence of magical creatures roaming the area. Similar to the Nelaryotar forest, Mavraphas is an unusual region influenced by a high concentration of energy. While the energy flowing through Nelaryotar is Arcane, the energy coursing through Mavraphas is Nature. This phenomenon causes the forest's creatures to either become a half-fey or a woodling. The chance of transforming into a nature-oriented being is not as strong as on the slopes of Sarzan'nâth, but it is enough of a deterrent that the Khazarkar Empire never made inroads into the region. Those who remained too long in the forest often became a half-fey Terrant, a woodling Corralum, or some other nature-induced hybrid.
Mavraphas is home to thousands of Wood Woads and Thorns. These two factions are perpetually embroiled in conflict, each claiming Mirundân as a sacred site for their respective peoples. The forest also harbors an assortment of predatory plants and creatures, such as assassin vines, forest trolls, and tendriculos. Additionally, there are those that pose a threat only when provoked, including shambling mounds and green ash treants.
Mavraphas has a significant Centaur population. These creatures were once Jara from the Bloodletters horde. In 1115, this Jara Horde was defeated at Nibar-Pharân. The death of their khan caused the horde to disintegrate. Some fled into Mavraphas, where the region's natural energy transformed them into centaurs. The forest's restorative powers purged their villainous tendencies, aligning them more closely with the ways of nature.
