The Raganbirak mountain range stretches in a lengthy "V" shape from the farmlands of Phanax to just south of Bokgruma, where the foothills border the Pearl Sea. During the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), most regional refugees fled into these rugged mountains and onward to the Slafknara Forest. A tenacious defense was mounted in every pass and valley, preventing the Black Tide from gaining a lasting foothold south of the range. Shielded by a bulwark of fortresses and natural defenses, the remnants of the Farinteen Empire and other besieged Sylvan Kingdoms peoples were able to rebuild their forces and ultimately drive out the Black Tide invaders during the Artery War (1546 - 1554).
Raganbirak's towering peaks are home to a diverse array of mythical creatures, including an abundance of chimera and griffons. Additionally, the region boasts vast populations of mountain goats, sheep, deer, pigs, and wild dogs. This rich source of sustenance is the primary driver for the sizable humanoid presence in both the lowlands and the mountainous terrain. Notable humanoid races found in the area include goblins, orcs, trolls, firbolg, as well as hill and stone giants.
