Rafthurgar is an oasis of verdant greenery encircled by smoking mountains, lava flows, and intense geothermal activity. The eldest trees of this forest are Firebrands. This has occurred because this species of wood is impervious to fire, enabling it to endure the volcanic eruptions that frequently ravage Anubeth. Over the ages, the firebrands of Rafthurgar have provided some protection to the region within it. Consequently, this has led to abundant vegetation, anchored streams and a river, and the accumulation of rich topsoil.

The storied realm of Cinderfall lays claim to vast swaths of Rafthurgar and its highly coveted resources. The collection of these invaluable materials is meticulously overseen by the druids and rangers serving the merchant houses of Glothreth, who have skillfully managed the forest for well over six centuries. This vigilant stewardship emerged in the wake of a perilous era marked by excessive exploitation, narrowly averting the transformation of the verdant expanse into an arid wasteland.

Rafthurgar is home to quicklings, nightshades, korred, needlemen, and other fey creatures leaning more toward the dark side than the light. The high concentration of evil foes in this forest mirrors the surrounding region, which lies under the sinister influence of the Pumice Throne. However, the Throne is not entirely malevolent, as Rafthurgar itself is said to be a product of its power. The forest would not have flourished into a verdant basin without the Firebrands, which serve as an anchor for life in an otherwise inhospitable landscape.
