In the depths of the Palace of Nine lies a potent energy rift known as the Ring of Phalgas; in reverence to the deity Phalgas, who is believed to harness positive energy as an extension of their very being.

The ex-Githyanki refugees who had fled the Har'kish Civil War during (1292 - 1312) were the builders of this rift. Having sought sanctuary in Paradomea, they swiftly endeavored to establish trust with the empire's leadership, the Council of Nine, and other Paradomeans. They divulged some of their most guarded secrets, violating a longstanding Githyanki law dating back to the early empires of the Astral Sea. This law strictly prohibited assisting in the technological advancement of non-Githyanki peoples. It was believed to stem from a two-century period of Githyanki isolation and xenophobia in the Astral Sea. Aware that their actions would make them targets of the empire they once served, these ex-Githyanki nonetheless sacrificed to provide Paradomea with the knowledge to fabricate energy storage vessels, primarily for use as ammunition, along with the schematics for Gith Lances and Pos-Grenades.

The energy from the Ring of Phalgas is harnessed to produce ammunition for positive energy weapons. Such is the military importance of the Ring of Phalgas that only those with the highest security clearance are permitted to view it. A significant portion of the energy derived from this source is sold to the XI Institute or freely provided to them when manufacturing ammunition for the Githlarâk.
