Gludragh is a region heated by the seepage of magical energy from the Cube of Arcane. It resembles the peculiar blue-ice of Ice Cap, both lands tainted by the Cube's magical emissions. Over time, some of the region's rocks become infused with magical energy, causing them to smolder and burn like embers. These ever-burning rocks, distinctive to this area, are known as Torches of Gludragh.
The Torches of Gludragh possess what appears to be a permanent magical enchantment, for none have ever been known to burn out. They are remarkably resilient, beyond the abilities of a novice to dispel their magic, and when subjected to a powerful force such as Mordenkainen's Disjunction, those that are demagnetized release a backlash of energy. Web weavers assert that this magical energy originates from the Web of Magic. During a Belras Foroderch Experiment, a Torch of Gludragh was destroyed for research purposes. The subsequent dispelling of its magic via a disjunction spell resulted in a tendril of energy that nearly killed the grand wizard of Belras Foroderch and drained many of the attendees of a portion of their spell potential.

Gludragh's surface is charred and smoking, maintaining an intolerable temperature during warmer months. The landscape also suffers from unnatural earthquakes and periodic eruptions of lava from an unstable Underdark. This activity is attributed to the region's proximity to the Cube of Arcane and what is believed to be semi-sentient magic mimicking natural phenomena. Belras Foroderch researchers suggest this occurrence, along with living spells and the abundance of magical creatures in the area, points to a sentient force guiding it all. They have proposed a theory on how the Cube gained sentience from a Cube Drop, positing that a powerful entity was dropped in during the Dawn Era and survived, its psyche yearning for release.
The riches of the land include the Gludragh, along with gem deposits, some of which can be easily collected from the surface. These gems are frequently of the hard to very hard quality. The intense heat, smoke, and gases of the landscape are too overwhelming for most creatures without some form of fire resistance. Despite the substantial precipitation, no surface water can be found, as it all evaporates within minutes or hours after a downpour. The heat of the region also generates strong winds that blow southward into Jolmgar and then into Morwuld Briin.
The floating cloud citadels of the Nitthirân hover gracefully over the baked landscape of Gludragh, which is also home to the fiery efreet below.
