Founded during the Arduous March (1041 - 1096), Othragmac is situated at the southern tip of Lake Murkin. At the time, the Tyermur swamp extended much farther north than it does currently. The wetlands, coupled with the spring flooding of Glumgard, significantly hindered the construction of anything near the river beyond stilted forts. Over the subsequent century, Blac'drugulois employed the slaves from his conquests to drain the land to the east and south. The purpose of this endeavor was to create a northeastern road around Lake Murkin, bypassing the more perilous and arduous route on the opposite side past the Elalmoth ruin. Despite the fact that three decades (c.f. 1060) had elapsed since the fall of this wood elf city, the Nárfaltuin forest surrounding the ruin remained their domain.

With the establishment of the Orchish Empire in 1096, Othragmac became the Orchish capital. Over the decades of war that followed, Othragmac evolved from a formidable fortress into an interconnected series of imposing citadels, linked by bridges and canals. This sprawling complex comprises seven colossal citadels, each overseeing a network of locks and waterways.

The towering structures of Othragmac are sculpted to resemble colossal, bleeding skulls. These macabre monuments possess a fiendish appearance, their hollow eyes and gaping jaws ablaze with emerald flames at the witching hour - the time when many of the city's residents engage in worship and ritual sacrifice. The northeastern perimeter of Othragmac borders the Thraroon marsh, home to the village-camps of war trolls and greenies. Preferring to reside outside the confines of the city, the majority of these wetland dwellers nevertheless contribute to Othragmac's tax rolls.

The city's most formidable defense is its capacity to inundate a substantial expanse of land surrounding it. This water is present in hundreds of canals that supply irrigation to farmland and serve as transportation routes to the city, but during times of conflict, they can be flooded, transforming the landscape south of the city into a treacherous quagmire.
