Thorvir Kroi commenced as a colossal bridge, traversing a mile of turbulent rapids. The builders, the frost giants of Glangveif, constructed it to access their scattered holds amidst Ugradrath's icy slopes. Spanning the Alarthand River, it boasts 14 grand towers and 28 spans. Marvels of engineering, some of these towers protrude directly from the river bed.
The downfall of the Glangveif (314 HE - 31) resulted in waning upkeep and ultimate disrepair. The once-grand towers became the lairs of wyverns and even formidable white and azure dragons.
In 1444, the Treaty of Thorvir Kroi was signed between the Orchish Empire and the Khazarkar Empire. As a commercial venture, the two parties invested funds to reconstruct the bridge. During periods of tranquility, the bridge transforms into a vibrant town, teeming with traffic traveling north into Khazarkar territories or south through the Lyfning Bar valley into the Orchish Empire's domains.
Under a joint civilian administration, each side maintaining its own records, "civilian" accountants and others tax goods, logging the contents of every box and bag, as well as those crossing the bridge. Thorvir Kroi is a place of significant intelligence gathering, known to both sides.
