In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the Vine Furies was an army under a Covenant general named Geryon. When Geryon became a Fallen Angel, his charges were left leaderless for a time. In the Northern Hordelands, the Vine Furies were forced on the defensive, then made a fighting retreat, ultimately finding themselves surrounded. The survivors of this unit, numbering several hundred, were sent in chains to the Primordial Storm, then to Yeenoghu's realm. On Ferri'lith, a world of the Abyss, they were warped and corrupted, becoming the first bar-lgura.
