In 272 LE, the goblin warlord Maglubiyet, at the head of an army nearing twenty thousand, departed Kriav for the Acheron world Avalas. He was then a mortal, yearning for greatness, serving his own power-hungry interests, as well as those of the demon lord Graz'zt. Over the following three centuries, Maglubiyet constructed a vast goblin empire spanning continents, islands, and the seas below. In return for transporting him to Avalas and extending his lifespan well beyond a typical goblin's, Maglubiyet fulfilled the demon lord Graz'zt's desires. In every town, fort, and city his soldiers sacked, they sought out idols and shrines dedicated to Orcus, a bitter foe of Graz'zt. These places of worship were desecrated and destroyed, setting back Orcus's goal of ascending to the status of a Higher Power by many centuries.
On the 8th of Kindle in the year 594 of the Lith-Crillion Era, the demon longevity magic that had sustained Maglubiyet for over a millennium ceased to function. Revered as a deity by his people, Maglubiyet withered and crumbled to dust. His demise created a power vacuum, igniting a civil war that seemed destined to continue without end. The conflict shattered the Gob'biyet Empire into numerous city-states. To bring an end to the decades-long conflict, Maglubiyet's soul energy was extracted from the Hells system. On the 3rd of Witchrite in the year 621 of the Lith-Crillion Era, Maglubiyet ascended to the rank of a Higher Power, becoming a god of the goblin race. He returned to his strongholds on Avalas, rebuilding his empire through the might of war. No longer needing Graz'zt's assistance to maintain his existence, he severed his ties with the demon and his other demonic advisors. Similar to the actions of Orcus in the past, Maglubiyet established places of worship, training gifted speakers and charismatic individuals to serve as proselytizers. They ventured forth to units beleaguered by the Avalas War Call, aiding them and spreading Maglubiyet's gospel in the hopes that some would eventually return to their native world as new worshipers. Maglubiyet was not alone in this endeavor. Established Higher Powers, elevated to godhood during the God Era, as well as those longing for veneration, were engaged in comparable efforts. The resulting competition led to intense fighting and constant religious wars.
In the Horgon Era, the orc warlord Gruumsh marched to Avalas with a formidable army. Driven by a desire to overthrow Maglubiyet's empire and seize his divine power, Gruumsh was guided by the military intelligence of a Lith-Crillion named Blac'drugulois. This figure would one day create the mightiest orc empire of Bal-Kriav. Gruumsh led a perilous surgical strike against the goblin deity, with Maglubiyet underestimating the mortal threat. On 21 Hollow 588 HE, the mortal Gruumsh vanquished the god Maglubiyet. Through this conquest, Gruumsh ascended to the status of a Higher Power. The longstanding worship of Maglubiyet gave way to the dominance of Gruumsh, whose guiding principle of "Might Makes Right" facilitated this transition.
