The Giff League is a confederacy of six city-states populated by the Giff, a militaristic people. Adhering to a culture that emphasizes tests of strength and fortitude, their economy centers primarily around the export of armaments and the deployment of company mercenaries to fulfill the demands of their clientele.
The uneven and challenging terrain of their native world presaged their development of skyships and floating fortresses known as the Spire Citadels. The abundant metal Jurungen, located on Marragh, significantly facilitated the giff's advancement of these airborne structures.
The Giff League became the first alien nation to establish trade with a nation on the world Bal-Kriav in 1244. Their new trading partner was Ivory Asylum, whose primary people were the Elderaunts, with whom the Giff found a kinship in their similar animal-like appearance.
In the year 1256, commerce was established with the Deep Six civilization. One of the most significant exchanges of knowledge between the two realms was the League's expertise in skyship technology in return for the Deep Six's proficiency in gunpowder production and metallurgical advancements.
In the year 1290, the Giff League broadened their interplanetary commercial corridors to encompass the Bal-Kriav realm of Paradomea.
The Giff League maintains an expansive battle fleet to safeguard their maritime commerce. They manufacture sizeable transport vessels. The Giff Platform, a renowned inter-planetary trade juggernaut, is their most prominent example. On Bal-Kriav, their principal trading associates include Ivory Asylum, Paradomea, and Malacost. Beyond these, their primary trade partner is Deep Six.
