In the Har'kish Civil War ( 1292 - 1312 ) , House Vrankalli sided with the githyanki separatists. In a conflict that was both political and religious, the Vrankalli fought to open up religious practice beyond the pseudo-theocratic rule that had long dominated the Har'kiishin Empire.
This so-called pseudo-theocracy represents a distinctive feature of Githyanki culture, serving as a means for the githyanki to elevate one of their own to the status of a deity. A Vla'akith, invariably a githyanki empress, driven by an insatiable thirst for power, strives to attain divine power from their people, their ambition being to join the ranks of the Higher Powers as the representative and advocate for the mortal interests of the Githyanki.
Golvix, the 6 th Order House Carl, subordinate to the esteemed House Vrankalli, upholds the "Pseudo-Theocracy, the Old Way" tradition
The Vrankalli's goal of expanding religious choices was thwarted. This was due to a usurper within the imperial circle. Pivix Cari'lith, a favored personal guard of the reigning Har'kiishin empress, ensured that her superior could not sign the document conceding to ideas of religious freedom. After eliminating the Har'kiishin ruler, Pivix took command, becoming Vla'akith CLVII. With Pivix leading the war effort, the situation worsened significantly for the separatists. House Vrankalli lost two prominent members to Pivix and her soul-devouring sword, Sarquiness.
In the final year of the Har'kish Civil War, House Vrankalli departed for Bal-Kriav. Upon arrival on this world, they ventured to Hells Womb, joining other separatists entrenched at Vith Niigol. Six years later, they and their kin fled this location, escaping to Undercity and then ascending to Paradomea City. The githyanki integrated well within this city, demonstrating their exceptional martial prowess to the Council of Nine, the city's overlords. A specialized unit, the Githlarâk, was formed in 1319 to leverage their skills. House Vrankalli maintained personnel in this unit for approximately a decade until it became influenced by the proselytizers of Ares, who sought to instill a warlike spirit. This effective campaign eventually purged other religious affiliations within the unit, prompting House Vrankalli to withdraw their members before they could be swayed by Ares's battle priest proselytizers. At the time, House Vrankalli advocated the teachings of Asmodeus, employing secretive, cult-like practices typical of attempts to disseminate a new, often infernal, religion among the populace. For three decades, House Vrankalli took orders from the Church of the Ninth Pillar at Galir-Khizad. By the Third Epoch, they led the Church of the Eighth Pillar, the second most powerful Church of Asmodeus on Bal-Kriav, in Paradomea City.
