Sos Vrii was founded by a hobgoblin sorcerer named Kynux. Trained under Whitefang, Kynux departed after two decades of service, stemming from a falling out with Whitefang's Dragonmaster. The issue was Kynux's excessive expenditure on special projects, one of which was attempting to replicate the work of Neld-Rac, creating a new species through the use of dragon blood and another creature (see Lab Journals ). This endeavor was no trivial matter, consuming considerable time and resources, the latter requiring a substantial outlay of gold. At Khilgand, Kynux trained others in the arcane arts and the ways of the dragon cultists. The funds he acquired from these activities were entirely invested in his pursuit of creating something novel.

The cult's initial success in "creation" was the making of an undead dragon. In 1812 HE, they produced their first dracolich. A willing subject, the Lord of Khilgand, the red dragon Nveryioth, sought out an old friend. Nearing death by age, with magical life extension yielding diminishing returns, Nveryioth swallowed his dragon pride and asked Kynux for the Sos Vrii's skills in transforming him into a dracolich. As old friends and partners for nearly five decades, Kynux was concerned about the potential consequences of the change - domination, mayhem, and slaughter.

In 655, Sos Vrii became a cell of Vith Alok.

In 1202, the Sos Vrii had finally accomplished their objective of creating a new race, the Ved'ogiim. This emerged from infusing a pregnant Githirmil with the blood of an ancient black dragon. The success of this endeavor arose when Nveryioth suggested that Kynux adjust his parameters, maintaining the entire effort secret, performing the infusion on dozens at a time, targeting older patients nearing their prime, and using unwilling subjects confined like wild animals. Kynux remained greatly perplexed and failed to comprehend how these modifications would prove beneficial or even necessary. Nveryioth assuredly responded:

I have thoroughly perused the aforementioned Lab Journals on numerous occasions. Within the pages penned by Him lies deeper meaning. The crux of the matter lies in the intricate chemical equilibrium of your patient under specific circumstances. These conditions are inextricably linked to the nature of the blood utilized. My theory for working with the blood of a black dragon involves an unrefined and primal approach.

When news of these creations emerged, it was accompanied by a degree of revulsion from the Githirmil. They perceived these "black orcs" as a regression from the accomplishments of their esteemed emperor, Blac'drugulois, of the Orchish Empire.

Not certain whether they are black orcs or black ogres, the name that originates from Khilgand refers to them as Ved'ogiim, a potential translation from Draconic denoting black orc. Regardless of their appellation, they are no more than common orcs blended with the rawness of an ogre. This blemish cannot be erased.

Emperor Blac'drugulois, hailing from the Gháshulg Policy Archives - "Black Orcs of Sos Vrii"

The High Command dispatched an emissary to Sos Vrii, urging them to cease contaminating the bloodlines that Blac'drugulois had meticulously refined over the past seven centuries. Unwilling to confront the formidable might and resources of the Orchish Empire, they immediately terminated all experimentation on Githirmil. However, by that juncture, the black orcs had already amassed a sufficient number of females and males to maintain their own self-sustaining population.

Sos Vrii has also explored the use of other chromatic dragon bloods, but has thus far only achieved success when employing the blood of black dragons.
