Zisi-Nul originated as a group dedicated to righting wrongs and combating the hostile elements of the Kuli-Cir Forest. They were all Githzerai monks, martial artists, and mentalists; descendants of those who had come to Bal-Kriav with the Inscarabec Rebellion (1531 HE - 1544 HE). The group's transformation from monastic defenders to mercenaries arose during a period of peace that settled over the region in the First Epoch. With diminished need for their services, instead of turning to agriculture to earn their living, they traveled extensively, offering their martial and mental skills to any who required them. Others joined their ranks along the way, embracing their ideologies of deep contemplation, physical fitness, and a reverence for their abilities as an artform.
In 993, the Zisi-Nul was joined by a mysterious figure named Blac'drugulois. He arrived during a period of economic stagnation, a lull in the conflicts that had plagued the region. It took Blac'drugulois four years to gain the trust and support of the company's leaders. The pivotal moment came when he revealed the location of one of their long-lost fortresses, Limbgud. This information secured their backing for his enterprise, which was to be undertaken in the distant north.
While Blac'drugulois served Tamlêrran, he gradually integrated small Zisi-Nul contingents into his army. Once the Zisi-Nul comprised the majority of his forces, Blac'drugulois turned against one of Tamlêrran's wizard-governors. He then attempted to seize control of the empire. The subsequent battles for the capital resulted in the Zisi-Nul losing nearly half their fighting strength.
The fighting at Nizgimân was perhaps the most memorable in the annals of Zisi-Nul. The concerted magical firepower of the enemy was a formidable challenge that few could withstand. However, the Zisi-Nul's unwavering determination, mental fortitude, and the brilliance of their commanders saved them from annihilation. Those of us within earshot of Blac'drugulois were emboldened by his commanding presence and shielded from fire, lightning, cold, and other magical effects. We suffered heavy losses at Nizgimân, and Blac'drugulois was captured and imprisoned. The Tamlêrran were so impressed by our fighting prowess that we went on to serve as their mercenaries for many years.
excerpt from the Annals of Zisi-Nul
The Zisi-Nul possess craftsmen who are masters at creating psionic weapons and equipment. One of their most renowned items are psionic bastard swords known as Psi-Volts. These formidable weapons are frequently wielded by the organization's officers.
The company's headquarters are located in Ithilmar. This is because Ithilmar remains largely a neutral state, refraining from interfering with the affairs of its neighbors. They would have preferred Limbgud, situated closer to their frequent employer, the Orchish Empire, but found it much more challenging to conduct business with the Orchish Empire's numerous adversaries while based in Limbgud. Today, Limbgud serves as a training center and respite location for Zisi-Nul operatives working within and around Inirthak.
When Blac'drugulois was constructing the Orchish Empire, the Zisi-Nul were enlisted to assist in the Energy Exchange, reshaping the orcs under Blac'drugulois into what are now recognized as the Githirmil.
