Rest is an island at the core of Ghol Markúl, which appears ordinary enough, except that Rest and the other islands comprising this region were once part of a single, larger island. During the Horgon Era, Poseidon intervened in mortal affairs with the Sundering of Ghol Markúl, which annihilated the Abâthigûrean forces on the island.

When the Ghol Markúl was shattered, it left behind a ring of sizable islands and innumerable smaller isles. The landmasses of the Buccaneer Archipelago, much like many others in the region, bear a diverse array of monikers - a result of their discovery, subsequent claims, and references in ancient cartographic records that have persisted for the sake of uniformity.

Names of places shift more in the Buccaneer Archipelago than in any other designated regions of the domain. Scholars have endeavored to maintain consistent nomenclature within this area, but after a century, the populace universally employs the novel designation, subsequently doubting the veracity of historical documents. Port cartographers adhere to the monikers adopted by seafaring captains, prompting us to preserve congruity between official records and geographic representations.

Perhaps in another millennium, some law and civilization will come to the Buccaneer Archipelago, and they will discover some name and maintain it in perpetuity.

The League of Gyalech lays claim to the remainder of the island. They utilize this landmass as a source for their shipbuilding timber. The majority of the island's wood consists of Hullback, harvested from the Hullback Forest. Until the Tyrian League theft in 1834, Rest was the sole provider of this highly coveted shipbuilding resource.
