In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the eastern regions of Brucrumus were a heavily contested domain. During this period, numerous strongholds and fortifications were constructed by the Covenant, the Abyssal Hegemony, and those caught in the crossfire. Six of the Covenant's strategic locations came to be known as the Halls of War. These sites served as training centers, with some situated in the rear echelons and others operating as covert bases behind enemy lines.
After the Demon Spawn War, the Halls of War evolved into sanctuaries for the seasoned masters, imparting only a fraction of their former teachings. As surrounding populations expanded, these institutions transformed into venues for proselytizers of the War Gods. Church involvement in these war colleges culminated in donations covering up to half a student's tuition.
Mercenaries, soldiers-of-fortune, Ogre Lords embarking on a vision quest, students financed by deep pockets or serving some empire - all can be found within the Halls of War. Whether the aim is to brainwash students into becoming warmongers or to impart skills for protection and service, the debate remains open.
Madbash, personal diary - "Warrior Breed"
Beyond serving as schools of warfare, the Halls possess exceptional athletic facilities and are highly competitive. Each institution sponsors teams that compete against the other war colleges.
