The Womb of Entropy, constructed late in the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , represented a remarkable feat of Primordial engineering, serving as a strategic base for planetary invasions against the Covenant.
The Womb of Entropy originated from a colossal rock, a veritable mountain of a shattered world, adrift aimlessly like flotsam in the Sea of Entropy. A primordial lord known as Geb and his diligent Earth Archon builders transformed this massive rock into a formidable military stronghold, carving it with a labyrinth of passages and chambers, as well as cavernous vaults to house Sarseg's rift-making devices.
When the Creation War concluded, the Covenant rigorously scoured numerous systems, yet failed to locate and secure the Womb of Entropy. During the Lith-Crillion Era, the enigmatic Womb was discovered by a primordial entity named Asoun. Within the colossal, mountain-sized structure, Asoun activated the devices of Sarseg, thereby opening two rifts on the world of Bal-Kriav.
In 1271 LE, the Lith-Crillion, with research facilities dispersed across Bal-Kriav, became aware of the whereabouts of the Womb of Entropy. Lith-Crillion commandos, accompanied by a pack of weave spiders, launched an assault, utterly destroying the site and all within it. The Womb's annihilation scattered fragments across the Quara'tun System. Several hundred of these pieces, imbued with chaotic energy, are known as Entropy Fragments.
