In the Turgon Exodus (13 - 25), the Nénharma were compelled to flee their ancestral homeland. One group, separated by a violent tempest, was driven far off their northerly course towards the High Wood Country. Rather than turn against the winds, they sailed eastward to the shores of the Hells Womb region. From there, they ventured up the Foronir River, ultimately settling in the Nárfaltuin Forest.

Elalmoth, constructed by the Nénharma, became a grand and imposing place surrounded by a dense, verdant forest. It was perceived as a prosperous location by their neighboring communities, a potential target for plunder. This led to a prolonged history of conflict with predators ascending from the depths of Garathral. The most formidable of these adversaries were the mind flayers of Ginrall. For an extended period, Ginrall lacked the strength for a full-scale assault, so their forces lurked on the fringes or fraternized with bands of grimlocks emerging from the caves and depressions dotting Nárfaltuin's forest floor and rolling hills. These pathways became interconnected, forming a vast network of earthen tunnels that served as spokes leading to central passages descending into the subterranean realm below.

In 360, Elalmoth was threatened by raiding parties arriving from below. These were from two groups: mind flayers and kuo-toans. For four decades, they posed a manageable nuisance. However, with the establishment of the Diortfel Pact, an alliance of their adversaries, the situation changed radically. On 13 Hollow 412, Elalmoth fell to the Diortfel Pact.

When the enemy unleashed their final onslaught on Elalmoth, hordes of kuo-toans surged forth from the lake, while the land-facing sides were assaulted by relentless waves of grimlocks and their illithid overlords. The siege persisted for three arduous days, and each dawn when Merioss and Khâls Forge crested the horizon, the assailants retreated into the inky depths of the lake or the labyrinthine tunnels of Nárfaltuin. On 13 Hollow 412, the Diortfel Pact emerged victorious and captured the city. They enslaved or slaughtered nearly all its inhabitants - except me.

In 995, the ruin was re-occupied. Elalmoth's rebuilding commenced under a different sub-race of elves than its original inhabitants. Unlike their Kriavfahliil predecessors, wood elves constructed habitats that harmonized with the natural surroundings, rather than emulating the Kriavian grand and majestic architectural styles. The restored beauty of the place, though now of a different nature, was once again lost during the War of Nárfaltuin (1048 - 1130). In 1060, it fell to the forces commanded by the Ageless Emperor.

Today, Elalmoth is a labyrinthine ruin, with stone structures nearly consumed by encroaching vegetation, and scattered buildings amidst the trees that weathered the ravages of war. Elalmoth is a rugged domain, brimming with numerous structures. It serves as the lair of beasts and monstrosities, and occasionally the target of nocturnal raids by the grimlocks and illithids of Ginrall.
