The vale of Hurg's Scar is flanked to the east by the icy Inzurakthol highlands and to the west by the dragon burial grounds of Laat Viing and Viing Qeth. From the southern approach near Froglem, the region is marked by fjords and terraced wetlands on the western side. Progressing northward, Hurg's Scar transforms into an upland vale surrounded by towering cliffs and mountains. The terrain is rocky, lush with vegetation, and bisected by streams and a sizable river.
During Amaglothorn's Breath, the eastern vales and highlands froze, drying up the waterways. In Hurg's Scar, this exposed ancient ruins and secret underwater entrances to a vast complex. Constructed in the Dawn Era, it is one of a dozen sites built regardless of time and resources, constrained solely by labor, by an eccentric named Maen. A primordial more preoccupied with his studies than the ongoing Creation War, the region of Hurg's Scar was one of Maen's retreats that, by accident or design, became the heart of a Bullywug civilization.
By the Year 900, the area's water levels had returned. Managed by a group of Bullywug druids and their mischievous fey helpers, the restoration effort received little recognition. Followers of Silvanus, these outcasts worked to fix the water flow and bring about a re-balancing, even as everything downstream to the coasts fell into survival mode. Cannibalism became the norm, as the directive from above ordered a "New Slate." The gluttonous and unbalanced Bullywug of Froglem and the vale, the druids' own people, would need to be brought back to equilibrium with the land.
