Iraktharbhun is a valley stretching from the inland Galathien sea to the waves of the Pearl Sea. It is said that in bygone eras, the valley's streams yielded abundant gold. The wide and meandering Tániel river flows down the valley's center. Iraktharbhun's western flank is dominated by the Raganbirak Mountains, while the Arbhundûl Mountains lie approximately 10 miles to the east.
Nearly two dozen grand statues are scattered across Iraktharbhun, positioned on the edges of the rising highlands facing inward towards the valley. Each was constructed by the Tungesti, a people who have inhabited the southern reaches of the Lands of Purity for millennia. Built in reverence to Ares, one statue has been raised every 400 years since he became a Higher Power - a total of 18 since 25 War March 152 GE. Bearing names such as Ares Acclaim, Arm of Ares, Ceremonial Blades, War Sentential and more, occasionally one becomes infused with divine magic, bestowing a boon upon those sleeping nearby. These boons only manifest when someone or a group has performed a notable deed in Ares' favor. The War Sentinel, however, is the sole exception, as this stone colossus is immune to any form of magic. This formidable creation was crafted by priests working directly with Ares, and has only once come to the aid of the Iraktharbhun people. During the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), the War Sentential drove off an undead army led by Katrana. For as long as the Black Tide remained in the Lands of Purity, the War Sentienl prevented the linking of Katrana's armies with those in the west.
The valley and highlands flanking Iraktharbhun have long been home to Tungesti tribes. These barbarians are dispersed across a vast expanse. In 1124, the storm titan Dranfulmus came to Iraktharbhun and united numerous of these tribes. Two years later, under the leadership of this heroic figure, the tribes attacked Iglutt and toppled the evil Kingdom of Naggor. The barbarian horde appears to have been civilized by this endeavor, as the Targad confederacy was established several years thereafter. When this confederacy fractured in 1534, the Tungesti splintered, reverting to their ancient customs and settling in the valley's depths.
