Saknussem is an expansive jungle along the southwestern coasts of Hells Womb and eastern Lands of Purity. This verdant region resides in a temperate latitude, yet due to the Temporal Zephyr, it is as hot, humid, and muggy as any found in Ma'Ohari. In earlier times, this lush wilderness stretched as far north as the Gelugon Range. However, population growth and industrial expansion have taken a toll, reducing the jungle's size by more than 30%. Consequently, the Council of Bile has earned a poor standing with Springflower (Nature Protectorate of Hells Womb) due to this ecological carelessness.
In the Lith-Crillion Era and the Horgon Era, Saknussem had a substantial Yuan-ti civilization. Currently, the jungle is strewn with their remnants. These sites feature towering ziggurats and vast underground mazes. The largest of these ruins is Baziranâth. Carvings at this site depict the sky ablaze and burning rocks falling from the heavens, generally believed to be a representation of the Dûlan-Nûl Firestorm. While a considerable number of yuan-ti still reside in the jungle, their presence pales in comparison to the civilization's former prominence in the region.
