During the time of Aslauthroa, the giants referred to this valley as Gigunn. When Gilraen rose to power, they bestowed upon the valley the Elven name of Teretellin, named after the first son of House Glorfindel, the founding family of the Gilraen Oligarchy. The name was altered once again in 1421, when the Khazarkar Empire designated it as Salbâth, after Salbâth Niziganâth, a Setarch who governed the empire from 1156 to 1207.

When the Gilraen fell under the dominion of the Khazarkar Empire, specific policies enacted by the conquerors prompted the exodus of several thousand Kriavfahliil to this secluded valley; the origin of the ongoing Salbâth Insurgency, which has raged since the year 1422.

South of the Fangs of Steirgar, the landscape transforms into rugged terrain, fractured by numerous narrow ravines and deep chasms. Beyond the hazards of a region suited for those capable of flight, it harbors noxious fumes powerful enough to overwhelm a fire giant.

In northern Salbâth, where the valley transitions into the mountains, numerous Goliath tribes reside. They tend to be reserved, except when in need of assistance. During the Cinazan Front, compelled to evacuate the region by the Horde of Chaos, they migrated eastward into the towering evergreen forests of Teltenar.
