Sotiisk'lum is a glacial valley surrounded by the imposing spires of Rah Burdah, the God Rim. In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), it served as a Covenant workshop, a place where a mighty creature was forged to aid in the defeat of the primordials. This monstrosity was a Hecatoncheires, a terror of such power that it could single-handedly vanquish a Primordial Lord. In the creation of the Hecatoncheires, the Covenant generals Ares and TarĂ¢k constructed a series of scaffolding towers. When their creation came to life, it shattered the towers and the great workshops around it. The first breath of the Hecatoncheires imbued the iron from the towers and across the surrounding hills and mountains with a dark power, now known as Demiurgic Iron.

For a significant period of the Horgon Era, the territory of Sotiisk'lum was claimed by the Galirkrad Empire, spanning from 1301 HE to 1725 HE. The largest surviving relic of this fallen empire is Viing Prolgiid, perched on the edge of the great rift Viing'deyvut.

Much of Sotiisk'lum and the surrounding mountains are claimed by the Sotiisk. They exercise substantial authority over the region's white dragons and exert some influence upon the roving bands of frost giants, mountain giants, and ice trolls that have long tormented the area.
