Targind-Nal is an archaic, dilapidated stronghold constructed by Strumpktar's military strategists. It guarded the southern and western approaches towards the Gathol Hills. For hundreds of miles north and south, along with the elven city of CelebriƤn, it represented the sole area with ferries for traversing the formidable river Foronir.

In 1472 of the Gimhak War (1470 - 1479), the fortress of Targind-Nal succumbed to the Black Tide. Afterward, the reconstructed citadel guarded a thoroughfare known as the Black Athroond.

After the defeat of the Black Tide in the Artery War (1546 - 1554), Targind-Nal lay in desolate ruin.

Targind-Nal, the abode of ghosts, banshees, and other undead terrors, is permeated by a haunting chill that lingers even in the warmest months of Bal-Kriav. Anguished moans echo from the rubble, while fissures belch toxic fumes that waver about like spectral manifestations. Within the ruined confines, a Cerberus Pup stands guard over the Black Athroond, a foreboding road.
