The Theruleth is a tangled, gloomy swamp located in the northern reaches of the valley of Mauhúl. It is a dismal place, home to serpents, hags, malevolent fey, leucrotta, basilisks, Graagvrii, trolls, black dragons, undead, and other horrors. The self-proclaimed ruler of Theruleth is a rogue death slaad named Groggumblus. This deadly creature was summoned centuries ago by the Mad Wizard Flay. The crazed wizard met his demise when the slaad and Queen Thryunkian joined forces against him. After Flay's defeat, Groggumblus took control of his keep and subsequently subdued several large Graagvrii tribes in the area. In time, his dominion expanded to include clans of trolls and a few black dragons.

Groggumblus maintains cordial relations with Queen Thryunkian of Ilorath. In centuries past, the union of these two individuals paralyzed traffic passing through the region west of Boraresh. Over the course of many centuries, the power of the Orchish Empire has gradually surpassed that of these two marshy dictators. Their current activities are limited to state-sponsored assassinations, raids, pillaging, and other criminal enterprises.

Near the heart of this gloomy wetland lies Tridrak. What was once a mere keep owned by the Mad Wizard Flay has since expanded into an imposing castle.
