Map Athoreon

The settlement was established in the year 1789 HE by the Elderaunt tribe known as the Duraigosân.

In 940 of the First Epoch, Tigošal began delving deep into the stone lands of Mazâd-Khâl. They discovered abundant veins of platinum and precious gems. They also constructed numerous forges, harnessing the extreme heat of subsurface lava rivers to fabricate exquisite armor and armaments. Disregarding the inhabitants beneath the surface, Tigošal's miners ruthlessly ravaged the earth in their pursuit of natural resources, a practice that continued for three decades. Unable to tolerate the reckless plundering of their territory, the Stone Wardens opened the Earth Valve, a relic that served as a stopper for one of the tributaries of the Great Vein of Surtur. In 978, with the Earth Valve unlocked, a fiery river was unleashed upon Mazâd-Khâl, destroying dwellings and flooding mine tunnels for 20 miles in all directions. The extreme heat and noxious fumes forced Tigošal to abandon the region.

After Mazâd-Khâl had become a wasteland and the city was abandoned, the Stone Wardens warned the Ivory Asylum of any further attempts at plundering. The two parties signed the Treaty of Mazâd-Khâl in 983, resulting in the Ivory Asylum relinquishing their claim to Mazâd-Khâl and Tigošal.

Today, Tigošal serves as a refuge for beasts, monsters, and warring Sussgurd factions. Adventurers and prospectors who venture here frequently avoid being slain by the Sussgurd, only to become enslaved or sold to Sakullêth slavers.

The Tigošal Monitoring Post: "Vigil of the Valve"

By re-purposing a section of the ruined city, the Stone Wardens monitor the geothermal stability of Mazâd-Khâl without the Ivory Asylum perceiving it as a military reoccupation.

  • Location: The post is in the highest surviving tower of the old Elderaunt forges, providing a 360-degree view of the 20-mile blast radius caused by the 978 event.
  • Containment Monitoring: Specialized Creationist sensors track "arcane pressure" leaks from the resealed Earth Valve, ensuring the Great Vein of Surtur remains dormant.
  • Security Protocol: The Wardens remain "ghosts" within the ruins, using cloaking magic to avoid conflict with warring Sussgurd or the Sakullêth slavers who prowl the lower levels.
  • The Treaty Shield: Under the Treaty of Mazâd-Khâl, this post is technically a neutral scientific observatory, preventing Ba'lith or the Asylum from legally challenging their presence.
Incident Report Snippet: Breach at the Access Shaft
"While tracking a pressure spike from the Earth Valve, the monitoring team encountered a Sussgurd war-band within the lower levels of Tigošal. Despite our cloaking magic, the creatures' heightened predatory instincts detected the 'hum' of our sensors. We observed them attempting to utilize ancient Elderaunt debris as crude battering rams against the shaft's containment seals. Given their physical power and brutish nature, the team initiated a non-lethal displacement protocol to prevent a localized seismic event."
