The Tîrbalzôn volcano is situated southeast of the Core Sea. It continuously emits smoke from hundreds of vents scattered across its mountainous slopes. The majority of the activity originates from three smaller cones encircling a dormant central cone. While Tîrbalzôn is an active volcano, it is not in a fully active state. The volcano's operations are powered by the Heki Hrolmir, an artery of the Great Vein of Surtur.

Tîrbalzôn boasts an abundance of dormant and abandoned chimneys. Some of these descend deep into the Underdark sector known as Riwthor. These are often steep or nearly vertical drops, restricting their use to bats and other flying creatures. A few of these vents connect with Balanosa's Navel, a network of hewn passages and chambers that serves as a labyrinth for vampires. Most of these vampires were once mortal Forstneblin who once drew sustenance from the Quellestir forest. They are known as the Drinkers of Tîrbalzôn, more formally referred to as the As'lith Zybis, a Blood Cult of Kezgihr. This vampire cult gained notoriety during the Core Offensive (1749 - 1760), when desperate gnomes were approached by As'lith Zybis agents, some willingly accepting vampirism, while others were forcibly turned and sent out to "recruit" others.
