In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), the Tharagians served as industrious workers and skilled builders under the guidance of a Creationist named Danzar-Khâl. They constructed formidable fortifications, expansive depots, and other vital structures to defend against the primordials and their minions. One of the most remarkable places they helped build is the impressive city of Aphalur.
In the God Era, a number of eminent angelic heroes ascended to become Higher Powers. When this momentous transformation occurred, they were compelled to relinquish the Mortal Systems. Danzar-Khâl's departure to Nawenglorûs left Tharag (and his fellow Akthol) to forge their own path in the Ušuškad highlands of Bal-Kriav.
In the year 89 LE, the Tharag founded the settlement of Grongak.
In 310 LE, Tharag and Akthol colonists were dispatched on an expedition along the Earth Seam. The following year, after trekking deep into the eastern reaches of Dhark Bolg, they established the settlement known as Felak.
In 415 LE, the dwarves of Akthol and Tharag founded the nation of Akthol-Tharag. They govern a region encompassing a substantial portion of the western mountains within the Elephant Backbone.
Both the Akthol and the Tharags profess to be the original dwarven inhabitants of Bal-Kriav. They assert that a Plaque of Aphalur (cf. Scroll of Dawn), discovered in Aphalur, is inscribed in Dwarven and bears the insignia of Danzar-Khâl, containing text akin to the passages of a Scroll of Dawn.
The primordial dwarven inhabitants of Bal-Kriav are the Akthol and the Tharag. They shall serve as my protectors of Aphalur and other celestial strongholds of Ušuškad.
