In the Creation War, the Akthol Kûn was an army of Turkûn. They arrived in Bal-Kriav under the command of a Covenant leader known as Danzar-Khâl. After the war's conclusion, they were tasked with mopping up operations against the remnants of the primordials and repairing the defensive fortifications of the Eyegaihur valley.

The Akthol Kûn participated in the Demon Spawn War, fighting under the command of Danzar-Khâl and other Covenant military leaders.

The Akthol, the name they chose for the peoples of the disbanded armies, along with the Tharag, seized control of the Covenant military bases in the western regions of Ušuškad. Some of these locations, dating back to the Creation War, became their villages and settlements. Situated high in the mountains and built for warfare, these remote outposts, far from reliable food sources, proved ill-suited for population growth. Their fortunes shifted in 12 LE, when prospectors rediscovered the long-hidden city of Aphalur. Many subsequently departed the mountain redoubts to settle in this newly unearthed urban center.

In 310 LE, Tharag and Akthol colonists were dispatched down Sakal's Earth Seam. A year later, having traversed nearly 2,000 miles of Underdark tunnels, including an underwater passage, they determined there was no feasible route back and established the settlement of Felak.

In the year 415 LE, the Akthol and Tharag established the Akthol-Tharag Empire. They governed a domain spanning a substantial portion of western Ušuškad.

Both the Akthol and the Tharags assert they were the initial dwarven populations established on Bal-Kriav. They claim one of the Plaques of Aphalur inscribed in Dwarven bears the insignia of Danzar-Khâl.

The initial dwarven populace of Bal-Kriav are the Akthol and the Tharag. They will act as my protectors of Aphalur and other celestial strongholds of Ušuškad.
