Aggis originated humbly: a series of fishing communities established by seafarers from Vraga Moltus on the isle of Gunalc, situated where shoals and currents provided ample sustenance year-round. However, prosperity and status breed ambition; in Year 1355 the island's flourishing drew the attention of the Farinteen Dynasty, who conquered Gunalc and incorporated the town into their dominion.
Under Farinitean rule, Aggis blossomed into a prominent port. The island safeguards two expansive harbors—one formed naturally, the other sculpted and maintained through arcane and elemental labor—facilitating the flow of goods that rendered the town integral to regional commerce. Situated approximately 110 miles southeast of Vraga Moltus, Aggis's commercial prosperity long incited both envy and strategic unease among its neighbors.
In 1485, a convergence of politics and desperation brought about a further change of hands. Leaders of the Farinteen Alliance, in need of ships and soldiers, orchestrated the transfer of Aggis into the care of the Paradomea Syndicate. This transfer, mediated by the shell concern XI Institute Holdings, remains a subject of debate. Some defend the arrangement as the lesser evil, claiming it prevented the isle's absorption by the Black Tide, while others denounce it as opportunistic commerce at the expense of the common good.
