In the Year 52, wood elf colonists from the Ancalimë Kingdom traversed the Oaken Gate, departing their homeland situated across the distant world. They settled in the region then more commonly known as Phiyel, establishing residence within the Elberial Forest. Though their initial numbers were modest, comprising merely several hundred, they would not erect a significant settlement until 14 Artifice 84 with the founding of Hanthaerion.
Hanthaerion sits astride the Faldelmar River. Through this waterway, they can engage in commerce with communities situated along the inland sea Galathien and proceed southward to the Pearl Sea and distant realms.
In the Black Tide War, spanning from 1465 to 1486, the city of Hanthaerion was abandoned as its inhabitants were compelled to flee the fiery catastrophe ignited by a dragon orb. This device, wielded by the Black Tide's leader Katrana, conjured two unnatural volcanoes whose eruptions ravaged the surrounding forest.
The city of Hanthaerion is now even more magnificent and visually captivating than it was before the Black Tide War. Sprawling woodland parks, serene streams, and grand architectural structures adorned with statues, poems, and murals commemorate the heroic figures from the Black Tide War and the Athenian Crusade (1539 - 1551). The majority of the city, including its sturdy walls, is constructed entirely from a wood known as Ironhue, which is as durable as iron and the city's most prized trade commodity.
