The expansive freshwater sea of Galathien lies within the Lands of Purity, its shores dotted with numerous settlements engaged in thriving trade across its vast expanse. In certain areas of the sea, mysterious whirlpools exist, known as the Vortices of Khushnír. Traversing one of these vortices will, in most cases, safely transport the individual or vessel to an Underdark sea called Ebonmurk, which directly underlies Galathien's waters.

Galathien possesses numerous sizeable and diminutive isles. The most enigmatic and elusive is Denellûth. Contrasting the alternative isles of the ocean, this one drifts about.

The frigid waters of Galathien converge with the ever-expanding glacial flows of Chemosh. This region is also dotted with large, azure-tinged icebergs. These slowly melting blocks of ice occasionally drift far westward before succumbing to the rays of Merioss. Mariners generally steer clear of these icebergs, as they risk encounters with stranded frost giants, who sometimes vent their frustrations by bombarding passing vessels.

The southeastern coasts between the headwaters of the Faldelmar to the Sea Pearls constitute a rugged and untamed region, a sanctuary for thousands of Harpy, sirens, and enormous birds of prey, including wyverns, griffons, and giant eagles.

The port city of Galathien serves as a bustling hub of commerce. Through its coastal waters, vessels journeying westward can reach the distant port of Nielalroch. In 1584, the Malacost Empire completed the construction of the Hîngar-Hloth canal, effectively linking the Bog Sea to the lucrative markets of Galathien. Vessels seeking access to the Pearl Sea can navigate any of the four rivers flowing southward through the Sylvan Kingdoms: from east to west, these waterways are the Tinas, Faldelmar, Lerchadan, and the majestic Tániel River.
