The city of Kotharlarg served as the capital of the Orchish Empire from 1140 to 1188, having been founded on 27 Kindle 1120. However, when the empire's center of power shifted northward, the capital was relocated to Gháshulg. This transition sparked an intense rivalry between the empire's northern and southern military commands, a rivalry further stoked by their Ageless Emperor.
Kotharlarg is situated at the southern periphery of the evergreen forests of Morath. Its opposing side commands a vista of the Glumgard River. As a port city, it marks the northernmost point where vessels of greater draft can navigate with safety. During the summer, the river's southern expanse is dredged by water elementals and excavating barges.
Saint Tyrinaxx, the revered religious authority overseeing the empire's southern territories, serves as the military governor of Kotharlarg.
Kotharlarg is renowned for its expertise in raising and training hydras as well as other formidable war beasts.
The city is unruly and occasionally anarchic. The Orchish Empire has grappled for years to establish order and structure here. Some speculate that the presence of Limbgud, a monastery constructed in the Sea of Entropy, is the root cause.
