Orryn is situated beneath the esteemed Outpost Prime. The settlement was established in 1035 by colonists originating from the renowned Slave Pen locale.
During the Tradeway Wars, an influx of refugees arrived at the town, doubling the population to four thousand inhabitants. In this settlement, rebel fighters from the war established the Sanguine Whispers.
When the Sanguine Whispers occupied Outpost Prime, the Council of Entrieda, the governing authority of the Sanguine Whispers, designated a governor to oversee Orryn.
In the year 1476, the Har'kish Empire seized control of Outpost Prime. Freed from the dominion of the Sanguine Whispers, Orryn established its own governing body, the esteemed Council of Races.
Orryn crafts an array of vibrant pottery, exquisite jewelry, and diverse metalwork. The town enjoys prosperity, boasting extensive mithril and red gold mines. Until the Third Epoch, Orryn held the exclusive rights to produce red gold for Bal-Kriav. The town maintains thriving trade relations with both surface and Underdark civilizations.
The Orryn Elevator descended through the roof of the Great Cavern. We were journeying down to the town of Orryn. A thunderous pounding and the resounding splash of water echoed from the vast depths below. We pivoted to observe a voluminous column of water cascading downward into the famed Pool of Depths.
"The Pool of Depths is believed to be fathomless," Teeth responded.
The hawk-nosed Tragaran subsequently drained his flask of Anvil. He then spoke in a pensive tone. "This settlement was originally founded by groups of Mîmêk, Derro, kobold, and Svirfneblin refugees living along the Great Tradeway. Some of these Underdark denizens formed the nucleus of what would become the Sanguine Whispers."
Teeth then expectorated from the platform and continued his narrative, "Some creatures possess the audacity to leap from this platform. I believe an individual survived a jump from 150 feet. As I was saying about the renegades, the group and their ancestors had been evading the assault of the Drow for the past 200 years. Their cities along the Great Tradeway were collapsing like dominoes under the incessant attacks of the drow. It required just over two centuries for the drow to reach the point parallel (he then gestured eastward) to the area where the town of Orryn now exists."
The mixed band of renegades practiced guerrilla tactics against the drow as the dark-skinned elves gradually extended their lines too thin to safeguard their flanks and rear. Over this period, the renegades developed uncanny abilities. Towards the conclusion of the Tradeway Wars, they attained a kill ratio of 30:1, drow to Sanguine Whisper. Their capacity for stealth, surprise, assassination, and discipline earned them respect and fear from the Chari'they Alliance.
The Sanguine Whispers have had ample time to consolidate their forces, establish elite academies, and delve into esoteric magics. They sway governments, execute "hits," spy, or undertake any task for a fee. The identity of their employers is inconsequential, provided they receive full payment.
I then observed a vibrant spectrum of hues emanating from Orryn. The residents utilized a variety of fungi and stained glass, producing a captivating visual display. An aqueduct extended from the Pool of Depths to multiple prominent structures within the town. The rhythmic clanging of metal resounded from the forge yard of Ilaruk Gongril. Occasional cheers could be heard originating from the Blood Pits Entertainment Complex.
The town had a modest population of merely 1,500, yet they possessed the opulence of royalty. The residents harvested the bountiful red gold and iron deposits within the famed Great Harvest Tunnel. In the years to come, this settlement shall undoubtedly flourish into a majestic and thriving metropolis.
