Graer Breach

In the Creation War, a primordial commander named Surtur utilized his command of what became known as the Great Vein of Surtur to conjure volcanoes. Within sector Athoreon, he summoned a ring of volcanoes that Covenant forces dubbed Surtur's Kettles. These included the volcanoes Graer, Gistborri, Kjar Eysa, and Atar Eysa. Whether by accident or to undermine Poseidon, Surtur created Graer in a location where it was battered by ocean waves.

On 7 War March 2002 DE, the Graer volcano was breached. Massive waves, manipulated by Covenant magic and years of eroding the mountain's surface, finally gave way. The Pearl Sea flooded into the volcano, submerging the Graer Rift and causing three of Surtur's Kettles to go dormant. They became inactive volcanoes, severed from the lava flows that once fueled them. This left them highly vulnerable to Covenant attacks and effectively isolated from supply lines. Consequently, the primordial forces under Surtur's command were compelled to abandon the region.

Another consequence of this event was the establishment of Lake Nedullu. The ocean waters that inundated portions of Enjof traveled extensively, filling a sizable depression on the terrain, where this lake now stands, rising and falling with the tides.
