In 341, explorers discovered preserved Auhtai eggs in the ruins of Tal'tich. Transported to Akann'ndâb, the eggs were entrusted to the special weapons division of the Athirbêni. Despite significant opposition, the eggs were incubated, and the Auhtai were raised and trained to serve as elite guards for the wealthy elite. Closely guarding their ability to intermingle, the Auhtai population remained low, but their value remained high. The Khazarkars viewed the Auhtai as intelligent insects, fearing that if left to proliferate, the Khazarkars might become a minority within a few centuries. Raised in military crèches, the Auhtai were honed into highly effective fighters.

In the century preceding the Domination Wars ( 995 - 1016 ) , the Khazarkar Empire initiated a large-scale breeding program. They required substantial numbers for a major conflict in which they sought to bring the entirety of the Gulimbor Region under Khazarkar dominion. By the commencement of these wars, they had amassed nine Auhtai legions. However, two decades later, in 1016, only one remained intact. During the Great Exodus ( 998 - 1017 ) , they migrated northward with their Khazarkar overlords into the Cinazan Region.

Not all Auhtai took to the front lines. The educated were dispatched to the affluent households of the Minâth-Nôrî, becoming Minâth Protectors. Through the means of psychic surgery, they were indoctrinated to champion the government's interests and exhibit unwavering loyalty to those they were duty-bound to safeguard.

In the Third Epoch, the Sadar-Nizar joined the ranks of the Minâth Protectors. Unlike the Auhtai, they are inherently integrated into the customs of the Khazarkar Empire, reared in military training facilities, destined to be soldiers for the duration of their lives.

One of the most renowned Minâth Protectors is the venerable hero Crick, the eternal guardian of Lenassu Dras'ee.
