Batthurâk

The armed forces of the Khazarkar Empire are referred to as the Batthurâk. They operate under the direct command of the Pharzîmrâth. Batthurâk soldiers adorn themselves with ornate helms, typically full-visored and fashioned in the shapes of jackal, cobra, or hyena heads. The Batthurâk is composed of the following principal groups:

Athirbêni

The Khazarkar Empire's ground army is known as the Athirbêni. This sizable force includes tens of thousands of Terrant grunts. In addition to horses, the Athirbêni employs an array of heavier mounts, such as watroaches, high driks, elephants, and reptilian creatures. Many of these exotic creatures are acquired from djinni merchants in Gludragh. The high driks, once native only to Gludragh, are now raised in the sand pens of Throa Sveid. The Athirbêni also includes specialized units, such as Sadar-Nizar commandos, who begin their training in Athurrâm before being raised and trained as slave soldiers in military crèches.

The practice of formulating exalted driks from ordinary driks was pioneered by the Khazarkar necromancer Har-Thal. His methodology for accomplishing this was first recorded in the tome Har-Thal Chariot.

Athirbêni has a number of specialized military divisions, one of which is tasked with raising Auhtai to serve as Minâth Protectors. The process of breeding them for military service began in 341, only months after an expedition into Tal'tich uncovered dozens of well-preserved Auhtai eggs. A century after the establishment of the First Khazarkar Empire, Auhtai made up half of the empire's ground forces. Regrettably, Auhtai are now present in such diminished numbers that they primarily function as guards for prominent Minâth individuals.

Hulbanâth

The oceanic navy of the Khazarkar Empire is the Hulbanâth. It consists of three fleets and 4 divisions of sahuagin that safeguard the coastal regions adjacent to northeastern Cinazan. The three fleets of the Hulbanâth navy are:

Milzôr-Munal

Admiral Munal oversees the military division of the Khazarkar Empire, known as Milzôr-Munal. This branch commands the empire's skyships and voidships. The Munal and Milzôr families, the latter being the admiral's wife's kin, control these military assets. Prior to their governmental militarization, Milzôr-Munal operated as a shipping company. What most Khazarkars find remarkable about this service branch is that it is led by two Terrant families, rather than being under the control of Minâth families.

The principal capital ships of this force are pyramid-shaped vessels referred to as the Pyramids of Set. The heart of Milzôr-Munal's assets are anchored in the Karêthil canyon (c.f. Khirrêth). Milzôr-Munal possesses the shipyard Mullûwâr.

Nazôrdâk

The aerial division of the Khazarkar military forces is known as Nazôrdâk. It consists of hieraco-sphinx, griffons, and other airborne creatures. While Nazôrdâk utilizes a small number of dragons, the exorbitant costs associated with their upkeep and appeasement restrict their deployment.

Phalzimîn

The vast, open plains of Âruk facilitated the rise of an exceptionally powerful Khazarkar cavalry. The hobilers of the Khazarkar Empire don attire mimicking the surrounding terrain. They typically wield scimitars with ebony handles and are armed with short bows painted in vivid purple. Emblazoned upon the back of their cloaks is the image of Set - a coiled purple cobra with crimson eyes. They eschew the use of ponderous, slow-moving mounts, favoring swift, nimble riding horses instead.

Yannôzgîr

The Yannôzgîr constitute the psionic division of the Khazarkar military. The most formidable contingents within this branch are the psurlons.
