In the Underdark region of Drarthiel lies a vast body of water tainted from exposure to the Abyssal world of Arioch. This is the result of abyssal energies bleeding across a rift. During the Demon Spawn War, demons opened an inter-system rift known as the Arioch Cloud. On Bal-Kriav's side, the rift's opening beneath what was then called Curatoch was susceptible to flooding. Demon and aboleth engineers under Athroond constructed canals and pumps to divert this water from the mining pit to the nearby sea. Even after the Arioch Cloud was frozen in time and thousands of years have passed, the waters of this Underdark sea remain tainted from the Abyssal waters that once flowed freely between worlds. The Green Nebulous is also plagued with plants native to Arioch, which have adapted to the subterranean conditions and become a nuisance to travel across the sea. Some are predatory plants of animal-like intelligence, driven by an innate malevolence that compels them to kill for the sheer enjoyment of it.

Irdtraxians commonly traverse this sea aboard sizable barges. They embark on voyages to and from distant coastlines, applying their mining expertise to ore deposits, pillaging Svirfneblin and Drow settlements, and amassing provisions for their malevolent empire.

The Great Tradeway traverses the lake through upper subterranean passages - the Houndaer Overpass. Substantial gaps punctuate this passage, descending all the way to the dark sea below. The drop ranges from several hundred feet to a mile at the highest point. Continuing northward, the Great Tradeway slopes down to an exceptionally wide walkway, which at certain junctures nearly aligns with the sea's waters. As a consequence of kuo-toan attacks originating from this area, Undercity and Belogrell constructed the Tanaralda wall.
