Amrê is a ridge situated in the northern reaches of the Melvad sector. Towering three thousand feet above the verdant Sahânzar valley, this ridge was named Vald Fallaug by the stone giants who constructed Garaldrarg. The Giant words translate to "Sea Wall," a curious designation until one considers that prior to the end of the First Epoch, the area now known as Sahânzar was the seabed of the Nermanis Sea. In 920, the fresh waters of this sea began draining into the Underdark, a consequence of the Onyx Enmity War (915 - 920), a conflict deep below the surface that transformed a sea wall into a towering cliff overlooking a lush and verdant valley.

During the Second Epoch, the Khazarkar Empire advanced into Cinazan's Melvad sector. What was previously known as Vald Fallaug became the natural northern border between the Khazarkar settlers and the large numbers of giants across Eylami, Kerthjorg, and the surrounding areas. Until the Khazarkar holdings grew and transportation improved, the giants often easily raided and plundered the Khazarkar settlements, as if the glory days of the fallen Aslauthroa Empire had returned. As the Khazarkar's power expanded, they gained control of areas north of what they now called Amrê. This renaming was a standard practice of the Khazarkar Empire, reflecting their view of their cultural superiority over the surrounding peoples.
