This hilly and mountainous region once constrained the northward expansion of the Orchish Empire. For three centuries, the Gimhak (1306 HE - 1479), long inhabitants of this area, battled the Orchish Empire for dominion. In their final great conflict, the Gimhak War (1475 - 1479), Bileddanul became territory of the Orchish Empire.

Bileddanul is sprinkled with thousands of cavernous openings, hundreds of abandoned mines, and dozens of ancient Gimhak ruins. Some of these locales serve as the dwellings for Bugbear clans, wandering constructs that once guarded Gimhak, Kobold tribes pledging fealty to Tiamat, occasionally a solitary dragon, as well as savage beasts and fearsome monsters. Under the Gimhak's reign, Bileddanul remained clear of such perilous elements. Under new overlords, it reverted to its primal origins, wild and frontier-like in character.

The extensive cave and tunnel system of Bileddanul spans far and wide. In the southwest, the subterranean passages extend beyond the mountains, approaching the flooded tunnels near the Idrongrun Bog. To the south, a legacy of the Morath War, tunnels run beneath the Morath Forest. In the northeast, the tunnel network interconnects with those running under the hilly regions of Hangath.

Flowing beneath these rugged mountains is a mithril deposit known as Nâram-Zind. The entrance to the mines exploiting this vein lies concealed beneath the dilapidated ruins of Tharam-Khâl. Guarded by the spiritual protectors of Gimhak, as well as durable dwarven automatons, the precious mithril of Nâram-Zind has remained untouched since the downfall of Gimhak.
