Map Gúrzogoth Swamp

Gúrzogoth is an expansive wetland situated northeast of the Carodrak Mountains. Prior to the re-channeling of the Edyznn River, this marshy expanse extended southward to the coastline. Completed in 912, the river's course was diverted twenty miles east of Marmarath. Over the subsequent centuries, this had the consequence of desiccating the southern portion of the swamp.

Gúrzogoth has long been the home to the descendants of the vampire lords who once held sway over Drachlaz. The majority of these vampires belong to the same race as those inhabiting this dismal wetland, the Bullywug and Vedrii. For the most part, they are secretive blood-suckers, even revered in certain tribes. The Bullywug and Vedrii claim to have resided in this area since the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE). Many assert that their ancestors served under the demon lord Graz'zt in his offensive to become the master of Ma'Ohari and the surrounding continent. Scattered throughout the area are shrines dedicated to various demon lords, some of whom have long since perished. Fearing the potential return of Varelay, many still offer token prayers to these entities.

During the era of the Torgilm Confederacy (1475 - 1719), the local tribes typically aligned themselves with the Confederacy rather than the Ba'lith Empire.
