Map Ezdynn River

The Ezdynn River emerges as the southeastern drainage of Lake Styming. These murky, stagnant waters then join the fresh runoff from the imposing Mughakh-Gol, an ancient, primordial fortification the size of a small mountain range. Continuing southward, the river collects the streams and rivulets flowing down from the towering peaks of Kimaris. Further south, the Ezdynn grows broader, winding its way through the Kazzatar Jungle.

Near Toth Coeus, the river spans a width of three miles. During the rainy season, it swells, sometimes transforming the Pu'gaz Depression into a vast drainage basin. Further south, it meanders through the marshes of Gúrzogoth. This wetland exists due to the annual floods of Ezdynn. The locals have long believed the river to be the domain of water spirits, the essence of elementals vanquished at Mughakh-Gol during the Creation War, which took place between 1486 DE and 8777 DE.

Traversing northward into Azrik, the river narrows as it approaches the formidable citadel of Marmarath. This constriction, a consequence of centuries of engineering, had rerouted the river further eastward. The city of Merorarg commenced this endeavor in the early 500s. The objective was to dry up the wetlands of lower Gúrzogoth, from the area west of Marmarath to the Thrawkrall Bay. For security reasons, now perceiving the swamp as a defensive asset, they halted the project during the Great Minotaur Revolt (785 - 796). Two decades after the founding of Ilfongrak, the work was resumed under the supervision of minotaur engineers in close collaboration with those from Merorarg. Completed in 912, the Ezdynn river now flows a course twenty miles to the east, traversing rugged terrain and passing beneath the great toll gates of Marmarath.

Traveling southward from the Marmarath, the river decelerates and broadens to a width of five miles as it converges with the bay of Thrawkrall.

The Ezdynn River is navigable all the way to Mughakh-Gol. In this region, vessels can be portaged across land by paying a fee to enterprising giants. The standard approach is to transfer cargo and personnel to ships on the Styming. From there, boats can reach the Ralban River flowing eastward, eventually arriving at the prominent port city of Tâchumâz and Bloodtusk Bay.
