Laughing Hairfoot is an ancient mine situated in the Armânuk hills, located fifteen miles directly north of Maurkac. Over the past millennium, the mine has evolved into an expansive labyrinth of tunnels and chambers. The lower reaches of the mine connect to the Faeglor Underdark region. At the point where the tunnels intersect the caverns of Sigan-Kûn, an Underdark citadel-turned-town exists, once serving as a defensive outpost between the mines and the Underdark. In the centuries following the Khazarkar Empire's claim over Gholompotl, this area became more secure, transforming the citadel into a more town-like settlement.

The Laughing Hairfoot mine has changed hands among three distinguished families. It was initially mined by the halfling house of Haog. This single mine elevated the Haogs to the status of a noble family within Maurkac. They maintained control of the mine for 16 years before losing it due to a substantial gambling debt owed to the Hannanâthas. The Hannanâtha House rose to prominence during the Nermanis Syndicate, amassing their wealth from the ore extracted at the Laughing Hairfoot and other mines.

The Hannânthas misplaced the deed to the mine after enduring a stretch of poor fortune at the gambling tables of Nirzanâth. The Urkuzîr then assumed control of the mine and operated it until the 1700s.

When the mine had finally been exhausted after nearly a millennium of excavation, it had spread across hundreds of miles of tunnels. In 1719, the Urkuzîrs sold the deed to a wealthy Svirfneblin family known as the Shinszelmoggit. The Shinszelmoggits claimed the tunnels and an Underdark citadel, which had once served as living quarters for the former Underdark workforce of the Urkuzîr. The place was transformed into a thriving trading post and town, functioning as a commercial hub between the surface and the Underdark, as well as among traders within the Underdark. The citadel was renamed Fermin and has since expanded into a sizable town of 5,000 inhabitants.

In the farthest recesses of Laughing Hairfoot lie gateways to Granitoid. These portals grant access to a continuation of the mining tunnels on this realm, mines known as the Laughing Pipes.
