The Hannanâtha family of Bathor is a wealthy and influential Nermanean clan. They possess an expansive domain in northern Mynzuth, encompassing lucrative mines, grand manors, fortified keeps, castles, and townships - many of which were constructed by the family itself. The Hannanâthas maintain a firm hold over the contracts for carpentry and stonework, in addition to commanding a dozen or more iron and copper mines scattered throughout Mynzuth.
The Hannanâtha family rose to prominence during the reign of the Nermanis Syndicate. In the 800s, the family numbered approximately 40 members. They gained a reputation for their ruffians, gamblers, and brawlers. Interestingly, the female members of the family were the gamblers and later became the masterminds of the household, earning the title of "Matrons." The male members acted as debt collectors and enforcers. After accumulating wealth through gambling, the Hannanâthas expanded their operations to include loan sharking and fencing goods for a thieves' guild. Their greatest fortune, however, came from a silver mine called Laughing Hairfoot, the rights to which they acquired as a gambling debt from a wealthy Nermanean family in Maurkac.
The Haog will pause and reconsider before hiring mercenaries to persuade us. They are aware that we possess the strength and may even have the support of the Lost Knives. Instead of tarnishing their reputation through a foiled scheme, they will settle the debt.
Matron "Diamond Trix" Delia Surestep, the esteemed head of the Hannanâtha family - "The Haog Conundrum"
The family acquired a dozen mines in the northeastern regions of Armânuk. When the Nermanis Sea receded, the Nermanis Syndicate collapsed as well. The Hannanâtha remained in Armânuk, persisting in operating the mines. Raids escalated significantly following the fall of Nermanis. Consequently, the Hannanâtha were compelled to abandon all but three mines. The diminished production and absence of trade reduced the family to a mere vestige of its previous grandeur.
In the Second Epoch, the Khazarkar Empire rose to dominance over much of Cinazan. By this point, the Nermanis Syndicate had long since fallen, with its people scattered across the region. In most areas, the former Nermaneans lived in impoverished and undesirable conditions. The Khazarkars and their military protection were welcomed as a return to stability and civilization. Many of the region's Nermaneans became citizens of the Khazarkar Empire. Even after the fall of Nermanis and during the Khazarkar rule, the Hannanâtha continued operating some of their most productive mines.
In the waning hours of 4 Bloom 1532, Matron "Snake Eyes" Corselia would bring misery upon the family fortunes when she lost the Laughing Hairfoot deed. While engaged in gambling at one of Nirzanâth's inns, the Laughing Hairfoot deed was ceded to a Khazarkar of the Urkuzîr family.
Several years later, the Hannanâtha ventured far southward, journeying along the Dargirth to reach Paradomea City before proceeding northward to Bathor In this city, they successfully rebuilt their prosperity and have since become an immensely powerful and affluent house within Hells Womb
