The Nuciregmas is a grand marble complex situated within Paradomea City. Colloquially known as the Library of Records, it boasts the foremost collection of records, histories, and works of knowledge across all of Bal-Kriav. The complex is fortified with powerful magic to withstand fire, and the guards have access to chambers where they can raise force wards across a vast grid dissecting the entire structure. These measures have been employed to thwart thieves or quell any altercations that may arise within the bustling compound, where daily visitor numbers often reach into the hundreds. Beyond the vigilant living guards, the Nuciregmas is also attended by platoons of unseen servants and golems of every caliber - gifts bestowed by the Magis Institute, as well as others that can be summoned from another realm.
When the modest fishing village of Paradomea was in its nascency, its most prominent feature was a peculiar hill. At the time, the locals remained unaware that beneath this hill lay an alien material known as the Ebon Bedrock. Initially, the only structure constructed in proximity to this ominous land was the tower of the local sage, Nuciregmas. Upon Nuciregmas' passing, his student assumed control of the tower, bestowing it with the name of his predecessor.
This tower would change possession frequently over the years, consistently transferring to a sage, wizard, or other enigmatic individual. Each successive owner contributed to its expansion until it became an arduous undertaking to maintain and pay the city's biannual property tax.
Esteemed individuals and others pursuing the enigmas of the arcane, history, and myriad disciplines took up residence in the location. Whispers circulated that the place functioned as a cult or was controlled by something beneath what many still referred to as the "mysterious hill".
When the Council of Nine rose to power as Paradomea's authority, Nuciregmas was acquired from its debt-burdened owners. The city transformed it into a library. The Syndics initiated a campaign to gather historical data from distant lands, and later, with the arrival of the Giff League, the histories of peoples on distant worlds. The Giff League struggled to maintain accurate records, especially detailed information on various historical events, so it was not until the arrival of the Deep Six that a more serious study of alien history could be undertaken and incorporated into Nuciregmas' archives, which were approaching their fifth century and nearly one hundred thousand unique books, scrolls, and writings.
Nuciregmas and its exquisitely sculpted grounds are overseen by the Loremasters of Ermikel. They permit all individuals to enter the premises and peruse the records of the domain. Certain sections of the structure incur fees for access. These areas typically house ancient texts or specialized information.
The library's grounds feature numerous fountains, some of which conceal mystical protectors. The water from these basins is interconnected through a network of canals, which are in turn traversed by sturdy teak-wood bridges. These bridges link the many islets occupied by adjoining structures, serving as residential spaces, study areas, and scribing chambers for the staff.
