Vith Ruus, commonly referred to as the "Serpent Throat", is a profound canyon situated along the northern perimeter of Feykro Silon. Since the God Era, this canyon has been extensively mined for adamantine and precious gemstones. Numerous roads and paths wind down to the villages and towns that occupy the ten distinct territories within the rift. While some of these communities are dedicated to mining operations, others focus on providing security for the transportation of ores and gemstones to the surface, and others offer a variety of services such as prostitution, gambling, smelting, and tanning.
In the Horgon Era, a momentous battle unfolded in this location between the armies of the Zeymah'kein and those of Mir'piamauza. During the conflict, the leading general of the Zeymah'kein, a revered Dragon Lord, perished in the lower crags. His formidable suit of armor, the Armor of the Dragon Lords, was lost to the ages; many have ventured forth, only to vanish in their attempts to recover it.
The most storied inhabitants of Vith Ruus are its fire giants. They have resided in the region since the God Era. Embroiled in the Demon Spawn War, they retreated deep underground, constructing an impregnable stronghold upon a magma lake. Designated Jothvauk, it withstood numerous demon assaults. After the Covenant armies advanced eastward, the fire giants returned to their homes and mines amidst the canyons of Vith Ruus.
In the Horgon Era, the region's fire giants were engaged in conflict with the stone giants of Tu Naar. Compelled by pressure, they allied with the Dominion of Resalth upon the opening of the Goldrah Fusvok Rahn. The downfall of Resalth resulted in the area becoming a diverse tapestry of peoples coexisting and toiling within the rift. Currently, mining comprises merely a minor component of the region's commercial activities.
At the base of Vith Ruus lies the Mol Jothvauk, a subterranean passage that descends in a spiral for four miles towards the vast expanse leading to Jothvauk.
