The genie races were fashioned from the primordial elemental types - earth, air, fire, and water. Storralk crafted the Dao from earth elementals.

The world Bal-Kriav boasts an unusually high population of geniekind. This phenomenon can be traced back to several notable events. One pivotal occurrence was the enslavement of thousands of Dao by the Tinnanguth Empire, who utilized these captive laborers to construct their grand cities and extract the earth's bountiful riches. However, the tables turned during the Dao Insurrection, when the dao reclaimed their freedom by overthrowing the empire of their former masters.

In the Gludragh region lie the sky citadels of the Nitthirân. During the Lith-Crillion Era, these djinn escaped the shackles of the efreeti overlord As'gom Ygathac. They arrived in Bal-Kriav through divine intervention, settling above the parched wastelands of Gludragh. In this domain and eastward, they battle the efreet who strive to expand the City of Brass's influence and territorial aspirations.

Another type of geniekind that have come to inhabit Bal-Kriav are the efreet. These are soldiers and mercenary groups under the employ of various houses of the City of Brass. They initially arrived in this world on the orders of As'gom Ygathac. They were dispatched to recover a hundred escaped djinn - a group now known as the Nitthirân. Following the assassination of As'gom Ygathac, several efreeti houses have elected to establish a foothold in the lands of Bal-Kriav. They seek to exploit the local populace and resources where possible, or forge trade agreements with those of equal or greater power. The Nitthirân have steadfastly opposed these machinations, unwilling to forgive their kin for the suffering inflicted upon their ancestors.

The Furrouth were transported to Bal-Kriav by the deity Set. He leveraged them to assist in the progression of his Khazarkar people.
