Today's Igas is a product of the Indraph Rift (27 Lunar 751), its once verdant, forested hills now entombed beneath a mile or more of glaciers, ice, and snow. This dramatic transformation in terrain and perpetual winter is a consequence of the rift, as the environment gradually aligns with the distant world on the other side of the open rift - the frigid wastes and eternal chill of Fimbulwinter.
This entire region is frequently battered by blizzards, swept by powerful winds, and subject to recurrent earthquakes and swiftly moving glaciers. Presiding over much of this are two siblings, one the sentience of the Glacial Throne in this domain, and the other in the Pumice Throne of a fiery neighboring region. For a millennium, they have continued to wage the Thrones War (751 - present), much like a game of chess.
The frigid realm of Igas is home to formidable denizens from a distant world, including frost giants, ice trolls, and Thrallrir, among others. Many of these beings serve Artaxertus in their perpetual conflict with Cinderfall.
The city of Igas is encompassed on three sides by the Elemantum Boundary Ward, a mystical barrier constructed to restrain the catastrophic energies commanded by the Glacial and Pumice Thrones. The unprotected side of this ward opens into the scorching territories of Anubeth.
