Bryakus, the inaugural hydra, was the grandest and most formidable hydra of the Dawn Era. Pillaging and battling solely in its own interests, it was a reluctant Primordial ally.
In the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , Ares engaged Bryakus in combat within the volcanic expanse of Felbarum. During one of their epic confrontations, Ares severed one of Bryakus's necks, forcing the primordial hydra to retreat through the Anaz Rift.
Legend holds that the inaugural hydras emerged from the blood shed by Bryakus. Felbarum's fire giant crones maintain that each time Bryakus's severed neck hemorrhages, a novel hydra comes into existence.
When the primordials invaded Throndar, Bryakus emerged as the gravest threat. Balthioul, the world's preeminent Covenant defender, and his solar wife Hamaliel, confronted him. By the time they reached Bryakus, who was cutting a wide swath through their Eenkai and angelic army, Throndar had been severed from the Web of Magic. Deprived of the capacity to wield magic, the two became victims of Bryakus's numerous bloodthirsty heads, perishing on 12 Lunar 8337 DE.
Bryakus resides on Bingatho, a satellite of the world Marragh. His colossal stature compels him to loom over hills and treetops, necessitating constant movement to satiate his hunger. During periods of prey scarcity, Bryakus is compelled into a state of hibernation lasting years or even decades.
