Most Elderaunts revere elephants as sacred creatures. In the lands under Ivory Asylum, severe punishment awaits poachers and those who plunder elephant grave sites like those at Irastânâz. These beliefs originated in the First Epoch with a myth about Elderaunt origins, a cover-up, and a means to elevate an outsider to mythical status. The group behind this misinformation campaign was the Irastâ, an Elderaunt tribe from the interior of Izagunbar. As they did not reside on the coasts, they were considered a second-rate tribe.

The heavens wept as Ilušur fell. Savage rocs, creatures of a bygone era, at the summons of Coeus, pinned the hero down. Ilušur's noble steed kicked and gored these spawns of Chaos. Holy men from far and wide converged on Irastânâz - elves from Holentur, hammer priests from Gul, and Sussgurd chanters. All endeavored in vain to heal wounds tainted by Chaos.

The people fervently beseeched the heavens for another champion They erected a colossal funeral pyre and prayed in unison Thousands encircled the pyre, thundering the heavens with their ecstasy Chants resonated for leagues, beasts trembled in terror, the winds appeared to still Ashes blanketed the land like an erupting volcano In the subsequent years, Izagunbar's people exclusively gave birth to Elderaunts

one version of Elephant Reverence

In alternative versions of this legend, it is stated that the protagonist Jurmalon emerged from the ashes of Irastânâz.

The veneration of elephants is merely a religious legend, yet accepted as fact by numerous Elderaunts. This myth was intended to conceal the origins of a people constructed to serve the Hydrocur. The details regarding Jurmalon were incorporated to gain acknowledgment from Izagunbar's more prominent coastal clans.
