The Luran Campaign was a crucial conflict during the Black Tide War ( 1465 - 1486 ) . For generations, Holy Sanctum had stood as a formidable barrier against northern invaders.
In one of the many battles waged at Holy Sanctum and the surrounding regions, the paladin Galtrag distinguished himself by single-handedly vanquishing the formidable wyrm Apocaleen.
In the Field of the Last Charge, the cream of the Farinteen aristocracy was lost while halting a breakthrough by Pinth's Banner Guard. The dwarves of this brigade shattered the defenses of the Holy Crescent Army and commenced assaulting the rear and flanks of other units. Pinth Blackstrike funneled reserve forces through this breach and promptly eradicated the Holy Crescent Army. The Holy Sanctum would have fallen on that fateful day, were it not for the charge of the Farinteen Knights. The nobility thwarted the breakthrough and fortified the siege lines. When the conflict concluded, the majority of the Farinteen aristocracy had been captured or killed.
The battle for Holy Sanctum endured for a duration of two years. Ultimately, the hallowed site capitulated to the undead hordes and mercenaries of the Black Tide. The Black Tide incurred devastating losses during the siege and would be compelled to wait an additional two years to amass their armies once more.
